Experience Downtown Reading
Reading Parking Authority is proud to support downtown businesses and has created the “Experience Downtown Reading” campaign to attract more people to Penn Street and the downtown commercial district. Businesses include restaurants and other eateries, retail shops, banks, and professional offices. The campaign is built on multiple business- and customer-friendly initiatives.
Free 10 on Penn:
People visiting Penn Street for quick errands and expecting to park for 10 minutes or less will receive free parking by entering their license plate number in one of the pay stations located on every block. Free 10 on Penn originated from data showing 52% of vehicles that park on Penn Street stay less than 10 minutes. The project is designed to encourage quick trips so spaces turn over more frequently.
Night Owl Parking:
Visiting a restaurant or other business after 4 PM? Park for a flat rate of just $2 at any of these downtown surface lots!
- 29 S. 5th Street (Every night EXCEPT event nights)
- 644 Penn Street (Every night EXCEPT event nights)
- 341 Cherry Street (Every night. Period!)
On event nights, several spaces at both the S. 5th Street and Penn Street lots are designated as two-hour maximum parking to ensure patrons at local businesses can find convenient parking even during high-demand times. Those spaces are also available at an hourly rate rather than event rates.
Experience Downtown Reading promotes downtown restaurants and eateries through a monthly contest awarding restaurant gift cards to the lucky winners. Each month features a different restaurant, and winners will also receive tickets to an event at the Santander Arena and Reserved VIP event parking. Combine your prizes for one really awesome night on the town or to use them separately for two great visits.

Tickets to a Santader Arena event AND Reserved VIP Event Parking !
Monthly entry period runs from the 1st to the 15th of every month.
